The rapidly growing enthusiasm for social prescribing and its potential to influence delivery of services in primary care have exceeded expectation but the development of its evidence base and robust quality standards for practice and evaluation have trailed (Lovell et al, 2017; Bickerdike et al, 2017; Roberts et al, 2021).
Launched in April 2020, the Wales School for Social Prescribing Research (WSSPR) works within four themes to research social prescribing: evaluation, social value, workforce and education, and well-being. WSSPR is funded by Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) and sits within PRIME Centre Wales Work package 4 ‘Care Closer to Communities and Social Prescribing’ (within Theme 2: Seamless Care Closer to Home).
This post holder will work with the academic lead for WSSPR Professor Carolyn Wallace to deliver upon agreed objectives and develop the programme of research exploring social prescribing in Wales. Specifically, the post holder will be responsible for developing and testing social prescribing evaluation framework, reporting standards and training materials.
